On Friday (29 November) District Coordination Committee for Nutrition (DCCN) meeting was held in a Darbar hall DC office Larkana. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mr Mohammad Noman Siddique along with Program Manager AAP Mr. Dr. MB Raja Dharejo. Mr. Asghar Soomro and Mr. Shafiq Jamro from Provincial Task Force Secretariat for AAP also participated in the meeting.
Assuring his full cooperation DC Larkana said that he would regularly monitor implementation of all nutrition interventions in the district in order to ensure smooth implementation for better results.
While sharing plans for capacity building of the DCCN, Program Manager AAP said that Task Force Secretariat for AAP is planning to facilitate Deputy Commissioners to establish nutrition cells. In this regard, UNICEF Pakistan is offering support for equipping the Nutrition Cell with technical and Human Resources. Furthermore, Program Manager AAP also reminded the forum of Chief Secretary’s (Sindh) notification for Sub-Divisional Coordination Committees for Nutrition(SCCN), and then requested DC Larkana to direct Assistant Commissioners(ACs) to conduct SCCN meetings on regular basis since it will enable the chair of DCCN to oversee effectiveness of implementation at field level.
At the end of DCCN meeting, certificates were distributed among participants who had completed a training program for managing patients (SAM cases) at Nutrition Stabilisation Centres, established under European Union funded Program for Improved Nutrition in Sindh(PINS).
