District Level Coordination Committee Meetings
The District Coordination Committee for Nutrition (DCCN) meeting was held on July 9, 2024, at the Deputy Commissioner Sukkur’s Office under his chairmanship. The session commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address emphasizing the importance of stakeholder coordination in ensuring effective nutrition interventions. The primary objective was to enhance interdepartmental collaboration, review progress tracking, and strengthen accountability in ongoing nutrition programs.
Key discussions addressed critical issues such as absenteeism among health workers, improving service delivery, and developing a model village for best practices in nutrition. A significant focus was placed on LHS training to enhance leadership in community health, improving LHW performance, and ensuring the vaccination of malnourished children to combat public health concerns.
The meeting resulted in actionable directives, including deadlines for submitting reports on absenteeism, progress updates from relevant departments, the launch of the Model Village Faqeerabad initiative, and comprehensive capacity building programs for Lady Health Supervisors (LHSs). Additionally, stakeholders were instructed to monitor frontline health workers’ weekly visits to health facilities and ensure the vaccination of 3,000 malnourished children.
The roles of key departments—including PPHI, DHO, DNC, PWD, Fisheries Department, Livestock Department, DEOC, DSV, and TSVs—were emphasized, recognizing their contributions to public health and nutrition interventions. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to accountability, timely reporting, and sustained interdepartmental collaboration. The next DCCN meeting will review progress on these action points to ensure the continued fight against malnutrition in Sukkur.
