CSO Exposure and Cross-Learning Visits

Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF), organized exposure and cross-learning visits under the flagship program, “Strengthening Local Civil Society and Community-Based Organizations and their Capacity in the Nutrition Sector in Sindh.” Male and female representatives from 15 CSOs across five districts—Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Kashmore, and Naushahro Feroze—actively participated in these visits.

The primary objective was to learn from impactful interventions implemented by government initiatives and NGOs/CSOs to combat malnutrition through community-led nutrition programs. These visits facilitated linkage-building, networking, and experience sharing among participants, fostering collaboration and innovation. Visits to the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) Building Healthy Families (BHF) project in Shikarpur and Khairpur offered CSOs valuable insights into effective nutrition and health interventions, community mobilization strategies, and leveraging local resources.

The exposure visits included a detailed briefing on SRSO’s achievements and challenges at the LSO Mehran Office in Village Moriano, Shikarpur. Interactive sessions provided participants with a platform to discuss grassroots involvement, sustainable change, and practical demonstrations of community-led initiatives. Participants also engaged in Q&A sessions with Community Resource Persons (CRPs) to understand the challenges and successes of these programs. Similarly, in Khairpur, CSOs observed live demonstrations of nutrition programs in Village Lal Bux Siyal, Union Council Khanpur. These activities encouraged dialogue, knowledge sharing, and discussions on scaling innovative approaches to address malnutrition.

The visits concluded with feedback sessions, networking opportunities, and a debriefing lunch, where participants reflected on lessons learned and planned actionable next steps for improving their nutrition programming.

This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of CSOs to address malnutrition by fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among stakeholders. Structured visits to impactful health and nutrition programs enabled participants to gain firsthand insights into effective strategies and innovative solutions for addressing malnutrition. By encouraging interactive learning and sustainable partnerships, the program ensures a collaborative approach to improving nutrition outcomes. These exposure visits represent a significant step toward equipping CSOs with the tools and knowledge to implement scalable and effective health interventions, contributing to long-term improvements in community nutrition across Sindh.
