Promoting Interaction Among Community Committees and Nutrition/Health Service Providers

Project Title:
Strengthening Local Civil Society and Community-Based Organizations and Their Capacity in the Nutrition Sector in Sindh

Project Reporting Period: January to December 2024

The activity, titled “Promoting Interaction Among Community Committees and Nutrition/Health Service Providers,” was organized by SPO in collaboration with MERF. The session aimed to foster direct communication and collaboration between community committees and healthcare providers to enhance coordination, strengthen community involvement, and improve health service delivery to address malnutrition challenges.

Representatives from the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), including the Medical Superintendent (MS), actively participated alongside Community Health Committee (CHC) members. Discussions emphasized building stronger linkages between CHCs and health officials, promoting an effective referral mechanism for malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women (PLWs), and fostering sustained dialogue to enhance service delivery.

Key outcomes included commitments to conduct MUAC screenings in high-malnutrition areas and to organize health official visits to educate communities about available services and facilitate referrals. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration and set a foundation for improved nutrition and health outcomes across Sindh.
